Opening Keynote - How to be in the Guest Experience Business, NOT the Property Rental Business | Tuesday, April 25 | 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Presented by Doug Kennedy, Kennedy Training Network

As investors continue to discover the VR market it seems that more and more locally branded rental companies are being absorbed into mega-size brands. While at first this might seem a bit scary to the locally owned small businesses, experience is showing that this is actually great news! Sure, they might try to steal your inventory by offering unsustainable discounting and tout about their tech stack, if you take actions such as these you can outmaneuver them every time.

Understand that many owners are emotionally connected to their homes – it’s more than just an investment. Create a simple system for your owner services reps to communicate personally “touch” each owner every 4 months, including the “quiet” ones. (It takes far less time than imagined.)

  • Employee loyalty is created by more than just a paycheck. How to nurture and grow it because...
  • Your people are your superpower. How to make them highly visible and readily accessible.
  • Provide mediums for your guests and owners to share their stories.
  • Every member of your staff is part of marketing, including the lawn guy and linen room attendant. (You'll hear evidence to proof it!)

Meet your speaker:

Doug Kennedy is President of the Kennedy Training Network, Inc. the lodging industry’s best source for training programs and related support services in the topic areas of reservations sales, hospitality, and guest experience excellence.  For over three decades, Doug has been a fixture on the lodging and tourism conference speaking circuit, having presented at more than 100 conferences, and having presented at his first vacation rental industry association conference (at the Florida VRMA) in 1996.  It is estimated that over 40,000 people have participated in more than 2,100 small group training workshops he has presented for hotels and vacation rental companies. After Betsy sold Mt Hood Vacation Rentals in March of 2022, several Vacation Rental Managers from around the country reached out to her with lots of questions about the process, what to expect and how to prepare their business for sale. Currently, Danña is putting her unique skill set to use, working with teams that desire to build a more robust operation, and use data to drive decisions that ultimately improve client and employee satisfaction.
